INTRODUCING THE STREET PARKING MILITARY & ACFT PREP PROGRAMS
"Through my work across 8 years as an instructor for the CrossFit Seminar Department - I grew to care so much about our service members. These people risk everything and sacrifice so much for their jobs to protect our freedoms. They are often deployed in locations with very little access to much equipment in order to maintain their fitness during a time when they need it the most. We have always provided a service membership for that reason and love to feel that we can help in some small way to keep them in shape and having a good time doing it wherever they are in the world.
We hope that these programs provide the tools necessary to help our service members perform well on their respective PT Tests, while avoiding overuse injury or just straight up boredom. We have taken all that we know about fitness and the types of movements, training styles, and accessory work can help them reach their goals without overtraining." - Miranda Alcaraz
For the past 3 years, Street Parking has been used by thousands of SP members who serve in the military, whether at home or deployed globally. We're excited to offer the additional MILITARY/ACFT Prep Programs available to all current Street Parking members through our Members Only website, to support these dearly valued service men and women.
The programs will focus on developing strength, muscular endurance and aerobic capacity using the same skills from the tests: Running, Push Ups, Sit-Ups and potentially Pull Ups. This will be useful in preparing for the current Army, Air Force, Marines, National Guard, and Navy physical fitness tests.
We believe that you can achieve great results in any test of fitness by simply following the daily Street Parking workouts. This program incorporates some of the daily workouts and places a little extra attention on all areas on which you’ll be tested. We’ve even included a comprehensive movement library of all the movements specific to the program.

STAY HEALTHY, STAY HOME:
LET'S TALK NUTRITION!
We know with increased down time, increased stress and feeling cooped up in the house it's easy to mindlessly snack. Our stress is high and the kitchen is nearby, so it's easy to default to food, snacks and drinks to fill the time and momentarily feel 'better'. We are here to support you feeling your best, as we know the value good nutrition habits can bring to alleviate some of the stress we are all feeling.
Here are some of our favorite tips to help you put down the unhealthy snacks:
TREAT SNACKS LIKE A MEAL! Put it on a plate, sit at the table, put away your phone, stop working, and just pay attention to the food you’re eating and enjoy it! Being more intentional around your snacks (and meals) will help you recognize when you’re full, therefore helping to keep your snacking in check.
STICK WITH YOUR NORMAL ROUTINE. Try to wake up around the same time, make your normal breakfast, and try to continue your meals like you would on any other day. Plan out your meals for the day and know what you are eating at each meal, just like if you were going to work! When your brain knows there’s a plan, you’re more likely to be more mindful around food. If you plan to snack, think about when you usually get the most hungry and have a pre-portioned snack ready to go. For most, that’s between lunch and dinner or even after dinner. Sticking with your routine will help you feel some normalcy in such a chaotic time.
INCREASE THE INCONVENIENCE! If the food is in plain sight or out in the open you will walk by and just eat it without thinking about it. Try putting the food away or in a higher cabinet so it requires you to think about it more before you eat it. Even better, avoid having those foods in your home altogether: Don't buy it so you don't have to walk by it!
ARE YOU HUNGRY OR BORED? If you notice that there are certain activities when you always end up mindlessly snacking (watching TV, putting away dinner leftovers, clearing kids plates, scrolling social media), you may need to change this routine.
SET A 10 MINUTE TIMER. If you notice yourself wanting to go for the box of cookies or bag of chips, try and set a 10 minute timer before you open them up. Usually after the 10 minutes has passed you realize you don’t need/want it anymore.
STAY HYDRATED. Sometimes when we snack, we think it's because we are hungry, but we are just dehydrated. Try to keep up with your water intake throughout the day, and even set alarms to remind yourself to keep up.
EAT A BALANCED PLATE. At each meal try to have a protein, carbs, fat and veggie to help you feel more full throughout the day.
MOVEMENT. Make sure you get in your Street parking workouts to help you cope with the stress. Also add in some Maintenance sessions, go for a walk or FaceTime some family/friends to check in and even hit a workout "together"!

It's that time!
A couple of years ago the Street Parking Staff decided we were going to follow Program A for the entire month of April. That meant putting away the barbells for a whole month in order to prove just how effective a pair of dumbbells can really be... and of course have some fun along the way. A bunch of the members jumped on board, we called it #ProjectApril and it was AWESOME.
Well, it's that time of year again and it couldn't have come at a better time. Instead of feeling like you're missing out if you are home with no barbell or gym-access, this is your month to have FUN switching it up! And starting April 1st the Street Parking Staff is going Program A for the whole month because we are in this together!

No matter how long you've been here, you know the Street Parking community is more like a supportive family. You know this support goes above and beyond, and is not just virtual high fives after workouts.
Due to the recent impact of COVID-19, members once again expressed the desire to assist each other, especially those dealing with the economic instability and how it could impact their connection to the Street Parking community.
We created this scholarship page so anyone interested can donate scholarship funds toward another Street Parking member who is affected by the COVID-19 virus and help alleviate any financial strain they are facing with their current membership.
Street Parking HQ will match up to $5,000.00 in scholarships from these donations, so that we can all continue to provide resources and help our community stay healthy.
To all who have donated, THANK YOU for being part of what makes Street Parking so special.
