FROM ALL OF US AT STREET PARKING...

We all have a part to play in helping keep each other healthy. With so many changes happening around us  - we're here to remind you of what you still CAN do. Maybe working out at home hasn't been 'normal' for you, but thankfully it has been ours  -- so we're here to help make that not only possible, but effective and simple to navigate. 

Because whether you are choosing to stay home - or are being forced to - don’t let your fitness or well being suffer! 

Here are a couple of things we want to help you with:


CONSISTENCY - We say this a lot: "Consistency is KEY" and it's because well, IT IS. We're not just talking about staying consistent for staying fit, it's for staying healthy. When life routines like work, school, travel, vacations, special events are disrupted -- your consistent habits with fitness (AND nutrition!) are things you CAN maintain and count on for stress relief and overall well being.  

A few tips: 

  • If you are used to working out a certain time at the gym, still schedule that time at home for yourself! If you get it done before sunrise, the #sproostercrew sounds like your crew!

  • If you are used to using certain types of equipment, like a pull up bar, be sure to watch the demo videos and read the full workout description for movement/equipment subs and modifications - we always provide them! Program A = dumbbells, Program B = barbell, Program C = bike/rower or sandbag (or sometimes other skills) version. It's ALWAYS ok to combine Programs -- like Program A dumbbells and Program C bike! Make the workout work for you! 

  • Consistency is more important than volume. If you are used to having a full gym set up to hit a bunch of lifts, work your gymnastics skills on a rack, and then hit a conditioning piece -- this might feel like a big adjustment. We get it. Get after the daily workout and then IF you have time or the desire, check out the Accessory programs (like Butts & Guts or Suns Out Guns Out) if you feel up for adding in more. You DON'T have to 'do more' to see better results. Trust us. 


COMMUNITY - Street Parking members have had this online community thing pretty dialed in even before 'social distancing' was ever a thing. If you are newer to the Street Parking program, we encourage you to make time to introduce yourself to the most inclusive, supportive, and resourceful community you didn't know you had rooting you on! Whether it's on the private Facebook Street Parking Members page where Miranda, Julian and the rest of the SPHQ staff and coaches are there to get to know you, or by introducing yourself via Instagram and tagging #streetparkingmembers

We know you probably have some questions too...

What if I have been used to going to a gym for my daily workouts?
What if I don't have a lot of equipment?

Even if you 'only' have dumbbells, you have all you need. Remember: Program A is the dumbbell version of the daily workout! ALL subs for any other equipment (like a pull up bar, jump rope, or even space for wallballs) are ALWAYS included in the written descriptions and in the daily demo videos! 

  • But what if I need some bodyweight only workouts? 
    We've got you (and the family) covered there too! Head over to MEMBERS ONLY and search "no weight needed" for TONS of workouts options! You can also search #streetparkingtravel on Instagram for ideas!

  • Can kids join in safely?
    SHIFT is a great daily workout for ALL ages! SHIFT is the simplified version of the daily workout - as in less compound movements - and always with bodyweight only suggestions in the description. If PE classes or your kids' sports are cancelled, this is just one way to keep everyone moving, healthy, and feeling strong!

  • I need some calm and time to de-stress!
    Check out the MAINTENANCE (yoga/mobility) videos over on Members Only website. Take a few minutes to calm your nervous system, ground yourself and find some calming, deep breaths because this is part of staying healthy too! 

Some great options in the Maintenance library include: The Cool Down Flow, Sleepy Time, and Stress Relief to help you unwind!

Don't be surprised if you hear from us a bit more, checking in and reminding you of what we've got to support you and to make the most of this time together!

All Street Parking Members have access to the entire Street Parking Movement Library on the Members Only website - and we highly recommend to spend some time checking it out, watching the videos and learning good movement patterns, especially if you are newer to these style of workouts! 

We also made our Dumbbell Movement Library available to everyone on YouTube, so if you have non-Street Parking friends or family trying to stay healthy while staying home, let them know we are here to help!

It’s that time of year again!

Project April or Project “A”pril started as something fun Julian and Miranda thought would be fun to do in April of 2018. We noticed many of our members at that time were under the impression that the DUMBBELL VERSION or PROGRAM A was the “easier” version of the workout. We often answered questions or had to explain that the different programs were NOT levels - but just options. We were trying to teach our members that, even if all that you have access to are dumbbells, it is ENOUGH.

So, we decided we would ONLY do Program A for an entire month. We wanted to put our “money where our mouth is” and show that we believe in our own message and our own program. We posted on the Members Facebook Group that we were doing it - and in true Street Parking Community fashion - everyone jumped on board.

And with that, Project April was born. This is not a challenge. You don’t need to sign up. There are no prizes or points to enter.

We will still program ALL of the versions and variations that we always do. So if you’re not into it - NO worries!

But, we challenge any who are up to it - to prove to themselves that dumbbells are really all you need for the whole month of April! So many of us grow an attachment to our decked out garage gyms. We love our barbells too! We also know how CHALLENGING the dumbbell version can be for anyone who isn’t used to it.
