Welcome to The Street Parking DOUBLE UNDER PROGRESSION EXTRA PROGRAM

It’s time to get those double unders!

The RPM Crew made the trip up to the Street Parking Garage to film this progression to help YOU get or IMPROVE your double unders!

Watch the videos below and let them guide you through the steps. Stay in one step as long as necessary until you feel somewhat smooth with it. For some that might mean one day, for others, it might take a few weeks. You can practice every day but don't do TOO much. Set the clock for 5 min and practice on the level you are at. You'll get there!

Program Notes

INTRODUCTION VIDEO

HOW TO SIZE YOUR ROPE

You don't have to have an RPM rope to get started! You just want to make sure that you have a rope that is the correct length and has handles that do allow a fast turn over of the rope!

WHAT NOT TO DO

We WISH we could say this was a dramatization... but these are common faults we see all of the time! As always - feel free to film your attempts and post them to the Facebook Group! Use the #SPCOACHING so we make sure not to miss it and give you feedback!!

You can also just come back to this video anytime you need a good laugh - especially on a stressful afternoon...

PROGRAM STEPS

STEP 1

Before we have double unders, we must have singles that we can control. Start here!

STEPS 2, 3, & 4

STEP 2 - 3 - 4: THREE DRILLS TO GET YOUR FIRST DOUBLE UNDER!

Step 2: SINGLE - SINGLE - SINGLE - STOP!!

  • This drill will help you gain the control needed over the PACE of your singles.

Step 3: SINGLE - SINGLE - SINGLE - HIGH JUMP!

  • This drill will help you learn that the jump for double unders needs to be just a BIT higher than that of singles. At least at first.  The idea is to jump higher, but keep positioning the same!

Step 4: SINGLE - SINGLE - SINGLE - DOUBLE!

  • Jump high! Keep the wrists down and elbows in! Spin that rope like there's no tomorrow!!

STEPS 5 & 6

STEP 5 - 6: KEEP IT ROLLING!

Step 5: SINGLE - SINGLE - DOUBLE - SINGLE - SINGLE

  • This method is EXTREMELY common and effective when people FIRST learn double unders. Often when people try to go from getting one - to stringing them together - their pace and timing get OUT of control. This is the best next step toward working on SMOOTH doubles!

SINGLE - SINGLE - DOUBLE - SINGLE - SINGLE - DOUBLE

  • And THIS is a great place to start when adding doubles to workouts! This will help you control your pace - but keeping you moving!

*Remember - wrists down - controlled jump - elbows in!

STEP 7

STEP 7: KEEP ADDING!

SINGLE - SINGLE - DOUBLE - DOUBLE

Now it's time to try to get 2 doubles in a row. Keep the pace SMOOTH! Fight the urge to jump FASTER! Something that has worked for us is to think - jump slow - fast wrists!

*Also - ladies - LOW hair. The high ponies will hit your rope!

Keep in mind that even once you've got your double unders - that you will have good and bad double under days! Add them into your warm ups and start throwing them into workouts! We ALWAYS include a way to lower the number of reps of double unders in the workouts when they are programmed or give you an amount of time to do double unders per round so that you aren't stuck doing them FOREVER at first!

Congrats! Welcome to the Double Under Club!
